Why it's so important... 08/29/2009
![]() Yesterday was the BIG fishing derby for DH. Now remember, he is our avid fisherman ... {we can usually cover ALL holiday gifts by smoking what he catches in the fall} And yet, the stars weren't in line with his mojo... He got Skunked!!! And to make matters worse? I lost a bet with him! Aaarrrgggghhhh! It was the bright idea of some highly mature fisherman {I should mention how much I adore my brother-in-law here} to have a "Snoopy Fishing Derby" What pray tell is that? It's where grown adults must fish with kids fishing rods. The only thing they could change was the line on the spool, otherwise they were required to sport rods with "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Superman", "Spiderman" and the fun ones "Hanna Montana" or "Barbie" {notice there weren't any actual "Snoopy" ones} The fishing began around 8am By 4pm {when I finally got the fishing report} things weren't looking good for DH's boat. They had one in & it was a wee 3 lbs. I jokingly said "I bet the winning fish will be caught with a Barbie or Hanna Montana rod!!!" When DH mocked the good luck of a girl's charm I told him I was so confident I would bet him a {eh-hum} favor. Of course, he was in. And, of course, I lost! Good news is, he won't be home for 48 hours :o) Which, I will most certainly be contemplating how to get myself out of this! :o) But it did get me thinking, how important it is to still have these flirtatious moments with a man I've been with so long. I'm wondering, just how many other marriages are this way? Are we the odd ones out? Or are the statistics wrong about 1/2 of us ending up in divorce court?
