Netbook... 08/07/2009
![]() All future posts shall be composed & published on my new HP Mini 1000! As a wanna-be writer I'm always creating posts in my mind ... then I have to wait until ... ... I make it back to some sort of word processing device {whether it's my CPU or my laptop} In light of recent events, however, ~ DH has convincingly claimed my laptop to use while on shift at the fire department for his photography hobby ~ I began weighing my options. With my wireless contract ending soon {let the upgrade sweet talk begin} I starting thinking about a Blackberry phone. It seemed like it may solve all of my "on the go" issues & allow me to travel a little lighter through airport security. Then I played with one at the local Verizon Wireless store ... this was when I realized it just wasn't for me. The screen was too small & hard to navigate for the sites I need on the road, plus ~ quite frankly, I like my current phone {I know, virtual gasp! Someone get this reader a chair} I guess I just don't quite buy into the whole "it's been 2 years, help the landfills out & buy a new phone!" concept. Although, I wasn't completely numb to the marketing ploys of that wireless store! Along with the 'smart phones' was the 'netbook'. While I was waiting I played around a little on it too ... sites were easy to see & navigate ... internet was impressively quicker than I expected ... and, with the USB ports I could treat this thing like a laptop! Hmmm. After understanding the 'contract lingo' I realized that this cute little netbook was the happy compromise between my laptop & that Blackberry! {Insert virtual arc angels singing here} I did do the responsible thing & go home ... research ... then return a few days later to buy. So far so good! The keyboard is 92% of a standard keyboard, which is actually perfect for my petite female hands ... even though it does take a little getting used to {& lots of backspacing} With the majority of my computing life now on the internet this frees me up to write where ever & when ever I want ~ because now it will be with me. At least, that's what I'm telling myself these days! Wait till the teenager figures out I have it though! :o) TOAM CommentsLeave a Reply |
