Family Road Trip ... Part 4 08/25/2009
![]() After the partaking of huge amounts of sugar & caffeine at the Spud Nut Shop, I needed to get some real food. So DS#1 offered to have breakfast with me at the hotel while DS#2 & DH began getting things picked up. Another trip to the pool, an hour or so at the park throwing the frisbee & enjoying the climbing wall then off we went. Now, I'll be the first to tell you that I have amazing kids & they bicker much less than the average brothers {especially when they are well threatened to get along on this trip ... or else!} but I'm also not so naive to think that a few days in the car with just the four of us won't see a few altercations. Not to worry though, I had some secret weapons! As we tumbled back into the car & began setting off for our next destination/adventure I pulled out the "Rubberneckers" game. {click picture above for the link to it on Amazon} Honestly, we've had this game for quite some time & never really played it {due to the built in DVD player my car has} but since it was either play along or be bored ... everyone participated. So here's how it goes: everyone is dealt 5 cards {except for the driver ~ but I played anyway}, each card has something on it ~ like "find a swimming pool", then another player has to see the same item & you are awarded your points. The first person to 100 pts wins ~ we played until we exhausted all the cards {I couldn't believe it ~ I finally won something we played as a family! With 175 pts!!! Yea} Luckily, we pulled this out as soon as we were leaving the city we were in because we were headed for some pretty deserted areas. I had to laugh though, when I had a card that required me to spot a school bus & DS#1's card required him to spot some graffiti {we were in the middle of farmland!} & wouldn't you know it in the middle of a field with a barn was a deserted school bus with graffiti on it!!! We decided that was worth double points! Even after this "leg" of the trip {when the game was over} DH would say "hey there's Mom's school bus" or DS#1 would say "hey, there's my smoke stack!" This is why I wanted to take a family road trip! TOAM CommentsLeave a Reply |
