Pedicure on a Budget... 06/22/2009
![]() At the beginning of every summer I get the infamous email from one of my friends reminding us all to take care of our feet during this time of exposure. Like a good friend, I forward the message to others & dig out the pedicure arsenal ~ the salon's phone # & my calendar. This year, however, the budget is pretty tight & my $50 pedicures have been scratched. In an attempt to accommodate the request of society (pretty feet) & our newly frugal lifestyle I have taken up the 'home pedicure' habit. When I began asking around I got the typical advice of a pumice stone or a file that resembled my DH's sandpaper in the garage. Not only did neither of these work, I didn't like actually using them. Then a friend suggested the pictured "Ped Egg" (click on pic to go to Amazon for more info) I have to admit I was a little hesitant - it's a "As Seen on TV" product. Those things never really work! Then I was in our local Bed, Bath & Beyond checking out pedi options and wouldn't you know it - there it was. Hmmm. I took in the packaging w/out picking it up ... it didn't look as "cheap" as I had expected it ... then I noticed the picture showing it on a balloon ~ those marketers sure know how to speak to a Mom's gut! ~ I was ready to take a look at the back of the package. I knew deep down inside once I picked it up though, that it was as good as sold. Sure enough, 15 minutes later - I was leaving the store with it in my eco friendly Envirosax. Being inexperienced (& terrified), I read every piece of instructions included. Not much BTW. And then took the plunge, began rubbing away (in the direction indicated). Can I just say ~ LOVE this thing! Yes, I'm going to join the million of cheesy infomercial testimonials by saying... "It really works!" :-} So for any other Mom's out there faced with UHS (ugly heel syndrome) who can't afford the monthly pedicure, I highly recommend giving this little cutie a try!
