Phew!!! Another school year down & a lazy summer just waiting for us to waste away!

Every year I give the boys an "End of the Year" gift - boring things like chapter books, workbooks for the next level of education, but then some fun things like iTunes cards, a slip & slide or vouchers to the local ice cream shop.

So this year, with the tight economy & an overbooked work schedule, I'm getting creative.

First, I found a water balloon pack on the $1 rack at Target - complete with the contraption you attach to the hose or spout to fill the balloons with (I know! What a deal! Love Target)

Next, I found a book that showcases all the "weird" stuff in our state. You know, things like the biggest ball of string or a glass house.

Here's how it all comes together ...

They each have to choose one place in the book they'd like to see. Then once the decisions are made they have to choose one more spot where they think a cooler full of water balloons will be the most fun.

I'm curious to see what they come up with for that bonus destination? Having boys, I'm guessing we'll be headed for a cliff to drop the balloons from or a picnic that will include a family drenching!

Either way, it seemed like a fun way to take everyone's mind off the "penny pinching" summer ahead of us :o)

Besides, maybe I really did want to visit the largest booger in the world! :o)

And I have the best group of girlfriends, so I'll post insights both helpful and ridiculous.
