After working on some research all morning, I decided it was time to relax a little & veg out with some good old fashioned reality TV. (Plus there weren't any good 90's classics playing).
I found two shows:
For about the last 4 years or so I've had a dirty little secret - more like a stinky little secret.
In the evening, when I finally settle in & begin relaxing I suffer from "belly bubbles" :-) Or when my kids were toddlers we use to call the "toots".
I'm sure all women suffer from such things, from time to time. However, it was getting to the point where it was keeping us home at night. I was too embarrassed.
Of course, only to be watching a family movie and to have my DH give me the sideways glance ~ halfway wondering if that sound came out of the beautiful bride he once married ~ as he subsequently nudges a few inches away. Then, the confirming stink that follows is saying "yes dear, it's me. This is the part where they said you have to stay even when it's hard"
Just about that time one of the kids pipes up:
"was that the dog?" As I sheepishly allow the poor DD to take the fall.
I then make eye contact with my DH to see he is grinning that sarcastic "Yes dear, was that the dog?"
Needless to say, I've been to the doctor only to be told that I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). All attempts to ease that have failed.
Then DH comes across an article about 2 years ago that claims some women can have adverse affects to wine - allergic to the sulfates or something. Humph, that's not me! I drink wine EVERY night!
So I determine that I must have a sensitivity to dairy & proceed to cut it all out of my diet. (yes, including ice cream!)
That didn't work either.
Then a few weeks ago I was REALLY sick for several days with the flu (no not the swine flu - just regular old 'south end' flu) & went cold turkey on tons of bad stuff for me (wine, chocolate, carbs) And wouldn't you know it, the first glass of wine I had the "toots" had returned (with a vengance!)
Now, here I sit 2 1/2 weeks into the no wine adjustment. Just me, an empty wine glass & a house that smells fresh.
What I've realized is, I'm too old to behave like a 20 something & too young to beat my body up by something it CLEARLY no longer wants.
Although, I'm holding on to the hope that I'm completely wrong & I'll be able to appreciate a smooth Cab-Sauv by the fall!
TOAM
Friday evening to Sunday afternoon we were camped out at the local baseball fields for the End of the Season Tournament. While DS#2 played his heart out (a few home runs & almost a grand slam - dad held him @ 3rd) I learned how to keep official score (coloring in various small boxes & writing baseball lingo codes). DS#1 did his part by hanging out, cheering little bro on & working his part time job.
